What is Your Presentation Super Power?

What is Your Presentation Super Power?

When you think of ‘super powers,’ what comes to your head? You might start picturing a tall hero in a cape flying around the city, defeating bad guys. You might also feel like superpowers aren’t something that you can ever have because you’re not a superhero. Well, what if I told you that every single human has a presentation super power? You might disagree with me, but I bet I can change your mind. Keep reading to see how one of our team members can help you identify your unique presentation powers!

What are Presentation Super Powers?

Picture this: you’ve stepped up to the front of the room, and you’re about to start presenting. You’re going to present to some incredibly influential people. You feel a little nervous, but you’re also confident you can get your point across. The confidence wins, and you deliver a clear, concise and winning presentation that leaves your audience impressed. You might have read this and thought, ‘being nervous doesn’t seem like a superpower,’ but here’s where I respectfully disagree. In fact, being nervous and then using confidence to pull off a great presentation is the definition of a superpower! See what I did there?

Confident body language is a stellar presentation super power! And it’s one of many others, some of which you may not even know you have.

Let’s talk about another one: letting your past successes do the talking. Everyone knows that successful people struggle a lot to get to where they are. When successful people present, they make sure that their audience can follow their journey to success and therefore be able to relate to them. They make their presence known while also connecting with the audience in a meaningful way.

That’s how great presenters use their superpowers of storytelling and positive self-image to captivate the room! And you can harness your super powers to follow suit.

Now I’d like to ask you two questions:

  1. 1. Does your heart rate go up when you think about public speaking or presenting in front of other humans?
  2. 2. When you have casual conversations, do you feel confident, or do you question your ability to communicate information coherently?

If you answered yes to either, or both, welcome to the club! As humans, we tend to feel incredibly nervous when we’re asked to communicate ideas to a lot of people. And that’s okay. It doesn’t mean that you don’t have presentation skills. A lot of successful executives still feel that way, but they use the skills they have and then build on the ones that need improvement.

The trick is to identify your presentation super powers and then figure out which ones you need to work on to up your presentation game.
